Dusky Canada Goose Conservation

After a major earthquake altered the Alaskan landscape, the dusky Canada goose population in the Copper River Delta began to rapidly decline. So began a decades-long conservation project to protect this subspecies from predators and provide more secure nesting locations. In the summers of 2024 and 2025, I joined the Forest Service in its efforts to create and maintain artificial nest islands, as well as the banding of hundreds of geese.
