Dusky Canada Goose Conservation

After a major earthquake altered the Alaskan landscape, the dusky Canada goose population in the Copper River Delta began to rapidly decline. So began a decades-long conservation project to protect this subspecies from predators and provide more secure nesting locations. In the summers of 2024 and 2025, the program continued to construct, monitor and maintain artificial nest islands as the Canada Geese population continued rising.
